We have a victory to celebrate!
The Supreme Court is releasing its decisions. Last week they ruled in favor of Legislative Branch authority, pushing back against the Executive Branch. The strange part is the ruling went against the former Trump administration—in favor of gun rights. This has many confused, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who said:
“The MAGA Supreme Court reversed a Trump rule to ban bump stocks, a radical decision that endangers our communities and law enforcement. Last week's decision is another warning that this MAGA court is going off the deep end. On issue after issue, aligning with the most extreme elements of the hard right.”
Here’s the case.
In Garland v. Cargill, the Supreme Court was looking at whether the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives exceeded its statutory authority by issuing a rule that classifies a bump stock as a “machine gun.”
Justice Thomas delivered the final opinion that it does not. Thomas stated that a bump stock allows the shooter to rapidly re-engage the trigger, but it does not change a semi-automatic into a machine gun. Michael Cargill says this ruling is going to stop the ATF from taking away a pistol brace, the triggers, and “all different parts and pieces that they’re trying to ban.”
No Handcuffs for Garland
In the midst of this is a small disappointment.
The Department of Justice announced that it will not prosecute Attorney General Garland over his refusal to turn over the recorded interviews between their special counsel Robert Hur, and President Biden. This concerns mishandled classified documents, and comes after the House found Garland in contempt of Congress.
Assistant AG Carlos Felipe Uriarte defended their decision by saying Garland committed no crime. He wrote:
“The Department has determined that the responses by Attorney General Garland to the subpoenas issued by the Committees did not constitute a crime, and accordingly, the Department will not bring the congressional contempt citation before a grand jury or take any other action to prosecute the Attorney General."
Let’s not forget that ignoring subpoenas was a crime when committed by Steven Bannon and Peter Navarro, former Trump aids. Somehow it’s not when Merrick Garland, who insists that “no one is above the law,” does the same thing.
Left Takes Aim at Conservative Justices
It’s an uphill battle for conservatives right now. Biden’s bureaucracy will not follow the law, the Congress is split and ineffective, so we must depend on the Supreme Court. Thanks to Trump’s appointments, it’s currently the only branch of government that is upholding the rule of law. No wonder the Left is working to take down two of the most conservative justices.
Justice Thomas is under siege for having a conservative wife and wealthy friends. His wife Ginny sent texts in support of President Trump over his questioning of the 2020 election. She expressed anger and encouraged legal activities to “stop the steal.”
Does that disqualify her husband?
He has also been accused of accepting expensive gifts by way of “secret trips to retreats and international trips on super yachts,” per Rep. AOC (D-NY). The billionaire friend is Harlan Crow, who hasn’t previously and doesn't now have business in front of the Court. Leftists complain that’s not true. They say that 20 years ago, Trammell Crow Residential had a case before the Supreme Court. So, Mr. Crow released a statement last year saying TCR operated completely independently of Crow Holdings. There was a separate management team, independent operations, no control, and no legal influence. The story then quietly disappeared.
Until March 2023, the rules allowed Justices to enjoy personal hospitality like staying at your friend’s home, and riding in his plane and boat without having to disclose this as a “gift.” So there’s no traction with that accusation.
Another barb is that Justice Thomas didn’t disclose a stay at a commercial hotel/private club in 2019. He says he forgot, and later amended his disclosure form. Thomas has since disclosed all according to the new rules.
Justice Alito is being criticized because his wife Martha-Ann likes to fly unpopular flags. She told an undercover journalist, “I want a Sacred Heart of Jesus flag because I have to look across the lagoon at the Pride flag for the next month.” However, she didn’t fly that flag because her husband objected.
Mrs. Alito did fly an “Appeal to Heaven” flag at their beach home, and an American flag upside down after a verbal altercation with Lefty neighbors. The Appeal to Heaven flag was created during the American Revolution, and flies in the City of San Francisco, but it has now been labeled as a symbol of white supremacy.
The Alito’s neighbors had a F*** Trump sign and then committed to keeping it up after Mrs. Alito mentioned she found it offensive. They called her a vile name, then later added another sign saying, “You’re complicit,” which they said was directed at Republicans. The neighbors claimed to be victims and called the police to complain when she flew an American flag in the distress position—upside down.
Why this Matters: Should influential and powerful people give up their faith, their convictions, and their private lives to serve the public? The wife of special prosecutor Jack Smith was a high dollar donor to Joe Biden's presidential campaign and produced a documentary on Michelle Obama. Should he be excused from public service?
Joe Biden’s poll numbers are plummeting, and all the swing states are now solidly red. That means Democrats are looking at how they can disrupt the Court and distract from their weak, failing, candidate.
Nashville Judge Weighs First Amendment
Do you remember Audrey Hale who executed three children and three adults at Nashville’s Covenant School? The court is trying to keep Hale’s “manifesto” hidden, while Michael Patrick Leahy, editor of the Tennessee Star, wants us to know what led to Hale’s despicable act. He has released 80 articles outlining her medical history and exposing what was in her writings. Here’s what he found:
Hale, a 29-year-old woman who identified as a man, had been in therapy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from the time she was six years old until her death.
She was on four or five SSRI depression/anxiety prescriptions, including one drug associated with mania as a side-effect.
Hale’s records were obtained by a search warrant for Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Hale’s psychiatrist knew that she planned to physically harm her father and commit a terror act at a school. As a child, Hale attended Covenant School.
The law requires that medical professionals warn intended victims, and holds them responsible for such attacks. They can also be sued in a civil court for damages caused by their clients.
Leahy has filed a lawsuit to compel Nashville Police and the FBI to release Hale’s full writings. The Star, a conservative news outlet, has published dozens of articles exposing what was written in Hale’s journal, but they do not contain photographic images or documents.
The Nashville police, FBI, and the Parents’ Trust—which holds a copyright on the journal—want to prosecute Leahy for his articles.
Democrat Chancellor (judge) l’Ashea Myles ordered Leahy to court Monday for a “show cause” hearing. She wanted to know why The Star’s publication of articles based on leaked documents does not subject him to contempt proceedings and sanctions. She also wants to punish the leaker of the journal, believed to be former Nashville police lieutenant Garet Davidson.
Here are some weird facts to ponder.
For more than a year, Chancellor Myles has been considering whether the law requires police to release these files.
But she only scheduled this hearing after having an off-the-record conversation with an NBC-affiliated journalist.
Among those who don’t want us to see the facts are Brent Leatherwood, head of the Southern Baptist Convention ERLC Committee. In a press conference, Leatherwood claimed he had not seen Hale’s journal and also claimed there was nothing to be gained by reading it.
All of the shooter’s writings are now owned by Covenant School Parents' Trust, given to them by Hale’s parents, and copyrighted. Speaking for the parents, Leatherwood said they don’t want the journal made public.
Why this Matters: Hale was radicalized by the trans agenda. She wrote about anger toward her parents, how she hated her conservative Christian upbringing, and how she had suffered because hormone blockers were not available when she was a child. It seems everything possible is being done to protect the grooming of children and the LGBTQ agenda.
Notables
The Attorney General of Kansas is suing Pfizer for alleged consumer protection violations related to the company's manufacturing of the COVID-19 vaccine, saying the company marketed the shot as "safe" even though it "knew" the vaccine was connected to "serious adverse events."
A Democrat candidate for county commissioner in Texas, who is also a former Biden appointee, got caught trying to trick the public.
Taral Patel, 30, claimed his opponent’s supporters were attacking him by physically destroying his signs (see above) and using racism on social media. Hoax. Patel was arrested and charged with felony impersonation and misdemeanor misrepresentation of identity. He was creating the firestorm by making false identities on line and writing nasty attack posts himself.
Do you remember the disrespectful trans activist who committed indecent exposure on the White House lawn during a Pride celebration last year?
TikTok influencer “Rose” Montoya was invited to the event by the Biden Administration, proudly went topless and released a video of the act that went viral. It was so disturbing that even the White House press secretary was forced to apologize.
Montoya is now making waves after his sexual partner accused him of serial sexual assault. Jesse Diamond, also a TikTok influencer, released a video describing the abuse and saying there are other victims. There’s been no official complaint.
How to Pray: For the Supreme Court Justices to remain faithful to the Constitution. Pray for God to strengthen all judges that they would weighs the facts carefully and judge rightly. Ask God to direct our steps as we protect our children in this wicked generation. Thank Him for providing everything we need, especially the promise of His presence now and forever.
Psalm 27:11-14 - Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodnessof the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
