The debate last night has been compared to a slaughter.
A frail, confused Joe Biden doddered to the podium to face off against a prizefighter, Donald Trump. President Biden was unable to complete sentences, he answered the abortion question by claiming women are being raped by their sisters, and stared slack-jawed into space every time Trump gave his answers. His voice was so weak, his staff had to announce mid-way into the debate that “he has a cold.”
Things went from bad to worse, and one of Biden’s answers devolved into complete nonsense. Trump was asked to respond and said, "I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence, I don't think he knows what he said either."
The side-by-side video couldn’t have been more encouraging for Trump supporters and more devastating for the Biden administration and the Democrat party. It was the best of nights, and the worst of nights. While Trump did well and demonstrated his strengths, Biden confirmed to the world that he is a weak, powerless leader over a pathetic nation.
Even the mainstream media said that Biden was so bad, one wonders how he functions day-to-day. The nine-person CNN panel, who shared their opinions following the debate, were either dumbstruck by Biden’s deterioration, or were playing a carefully scripted role. It has been obvious to the American people for years—especially the last year—that Joe Biden isn’t well, yet they acted like this was a surprise. Here are some of were their comments.
“He can’t go on”
“Unmitigated disaster for President Biden”
“There’s not just panic, there’s pain”
“His performance will hurt other people down the ticket”
The administration pretended none of this happened. Kamala Harris was asked if Joe Biden should step aside. She responded that it was a “slow start” but he had a strong finish. “Joe Biden is extraordinarily strong,” and his work as President has been “HISTORIC,” she asserted.
California Governor Gavin Newsom was swamped by the press after Biden’s disastrous performance. When asked if he would be the new nominee, Newsom smiled and said “No, Biden is our nominee.”
Newsom added, “We’ve got to have the back of this President… We need to deliver for him… The world, they need us right now to step up. And that’s exactly what I intend to do.”
Why this Matters: Leftist media got their 4 a.m. marching orders, and spoke with one voice in Friday morning’s headlines. Newsweek, NBC, and the AP ran headlines that used “panic” or “deep panic” over Biden’s debate performance.
Politico asked, “Can he run for president?”
CNN took a flash poll following the debate on who won, and the results were 67 percent Trump over 33 percent Biden. All of the respondents said they watched it, but we suspect that the third who favored Biden either took a long bath, went for a walk, or made a trip to the store. They can’t have actually seen his performance—can they?
Up for Grabs
If the vote were held today, Trump would win by 10 or 15 points and Democrats could lose the Senate and up to 20 seats in the House. This begs the question: Will Biden be pushed aside in favor of a better candidate? These are some of the difficulties:
1. No. A new candidate can’t get on some ballots, according to The Daily Mail.
Nevada’s deadline is tonight. Exceptions: candidate’s death, or adjudicated insane, or mentally incompetent.
Georgia has just a few weeks before it’s too late. If Biden were to withdraw less than 60 days before the election, his name will remain on the ballot but no votes will be counted.
The window is closed in Wisconsin.
In Texas, the two party's nominees have until the 74th day before the election to withdraw from the ballot.
Some states, like South Carolina, do not allow candidates to withdraw for political reasons.
2. Yes, if he is replaced by VP Harris. The Wall Street Journal points out that the cash Biden has in his re-election campaign coffers can’t be transferred to any other candidate, except his VP.
3. Yes, if his cabinet members vote to use the 25th Amendment to yank him from office for being mentally incapacitated. That would put Harris in place and she would be the nominee.
Fallout of a Failed Debate
Here are a few thoughts from folks on X:
Elon Musk:
“Have to say that CNN did a good job managing the debate. Questions were reasonable and non-partisan. No favoritism was shown to either candidate.”
Ginny Hogan (384,000 “likes” for this post):
“Ok if you don't live in the US, please turn the debate off. This is our private family humiliation, and we'd all prefer you not stare.”
KT McFarland, Trump’s Deputy National Security Adviser:
“Biggest consequence of debate is China, Russia, Iran realize they have a narrowing window of opportunity to exploit US weakness. They know Trump will be tough on them, so they will press their advantage now while Biden is still in WH. US has now entered a period of maximum vulnerability.”
Stock market expert Dougie Kass:
“What I am hearing regarding Joe Biden. Ron Klain and Barack Obama are having a sit down with the President today. Jill Biden is insistent that Joe runs. Kamala is furious that she is not being considered as a replacement (Whitmer and Newsom are). Interestingly my neighbor in East Hampton is hosting the Bidens tomorrow. It will be an important tell if the fundraiser is cancelled.”
President Obama chimed in with his support:
Why this Matters: The media’s response to have Joe Biden step down feels coordinated, not organic. Perhaps he was humiliated on purpose after the primaries so the insiders can choose his successor, and they are attempting a coup. The debate was held at the earliest date in history, giving them a chance to slip in another candidate before the DNC convention.
But Biden isn’t compliant. The Biden campaign is saying that he had a “shaky” debate performance but he’s as committed as ever to win a second term. They’ve also confirmed he’ll do a second debate in October.
Huge Court Wins!
After a jubilant victory for conservatives last night, this morning we were greeted with several critical court decisions, some from the US Supreme Court, and others from state supreme courts.
The Court ruled that the use of section 1512 went too far in the prosecution of Donald Trump and J6 misdemeanor defendants. Some of them took their own lives, and others spent years in prison after being wrongly charged with the 20-year felony. The Court has just affirmed that this statute, which has a provision to charge someone for obstructing an official proceeding, did not apply.
The Court voted 6-3 to overturn the “Chevron deference.” This is the Loper Bright v. Raimondo lawsuit and the ruling establishes that federal bureaucracies cannot govern themselves, they must submit to Congress. Agencies that have gone overboard imposing regulations—which makes the government grow into a leviathan—will now be held in check. This is a huge victory, and nearly as consequential as the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.
California - The Supreme Court returned to communities the power to ban camping in public spaces. Homeless encampments can now be removed from streets and parks.
Texas - Texas Supreme Court upheld the Texas ban on mutilation surgeries for minors.
How to Pray: Praise God for these victories! We wish they had come sooner, but He always redeems the time for those that love Him. Pray for God’s will to be done on November 5, and that those who have ears to hear will turn from wickedness.
Pray also for Steve Bannon. The Supreme Court has denied his request to remain free pending appeal of his contempt conviction. He reports to prison July 1. May God give him strength, resolve and comfort.
Psalm 103:2-5 - Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases; Who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowns thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfies thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Romans 8:18 - For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
