Friday morning, most of the House Republicans and Democrats came together to pass a monstrous $1.2 trillion spending package. It is a behemoth of overspending, providing funds for various government bureaus—plus waste and pork for transgender projects aimed at children, and millions for late-term abortion centers.
Ukraine got a whopping $300 million, and Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Oman received a $380 million reimbursement for what they’ve spent on “enhanced border security.”
Yet, there’s absolutely nothing in the budget to build a border wall to protect the US.
The vote shouldn’t have happened, since the rules were broken that specify at least 72 hours for lawmakers to read it. It was released at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, and voted on Friday morning. At 1,021 pages, the bill is appropriately nicknamed #SwampOmnibus.
It now moves on to the Senate, where it is likely to pass this weekend, staving off a government shutdown midnight Sunday.
Lawmakers from the House Freedom Caucus and others, a total of 112 Republicans, pushed back against the bill, highlighting the $34 trillion US debt and “earmarks,” which are special pockets of money, for home districts of various representatives. For example:
$850,000 for Gay Senior Housing and LGBTQ services for illegal immigrants, plus free drug needle exchange.
$2 million for the construction of a kelp and shellfish nursery in Maine.
$1.5 million to encourage video gaming in New York.
$249,000 for the Baltimore Symphony.
Other outrageous earmarks:
$15 million to pay for Egyptian students college tuitions—in Egypt!
$500,000 for a DEI zoo and “anti-racist” nature program
$400,000 for a trans advocacy group that helps teens hide their God-given genders
Why this Matters: This budget sets a record with $57,000 per household spending by the Federal Government, according to economist Stephen Moore.
Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI, above) announced his resignation after voting for the spending bill. Under Wisconsin law, his effective date of April 19 keeps Gallagher's seat vacant until November. He joins the list of GOP lawmakers jumping ship in the months leading up to the election—leaving the GOP with a ONE SEAT majority.
Why this Matters: If Gallagher had resigned effective today instead of in April, he could be replaced much sooner. It seems just a little bit fishy, no? Especially since Gallagher has already negotiated his next job with tech company Palantir, after introducing the bill to ban TikTok—something which Palantir eagerly desires.
Over-Ruled
Donald Trump is facing a nearly $500 million cash put-up in order to appeal the judgment against him in a fraud case. This is the one where NY Judge Arthur Engoron pre-judged Trump to be guilty of trying to defraud real estate lenders, then fined him $354 million, with interest that accrues daily. Trump must pay up by March 25, or lose the ability to file an appeal.
Manhattan DA Letitia James has submitted paperwork to seize his real estate assets in New York. Yet, James has been caught in the middle of her own fraud scandal. New allegations have emerged that she is using her office to protect a group that owes $3 million. They also over-inflated their property value—the same crime for which she prosecuted Trump.
The former President surprised everyone by announcing on Friday that he has almost $500 million in cash—for his campaign. His lawyers had several unsuccessful attempts to find an insurance company or bank to post this unprecedented amount of cash just 30 days.
Will he use that cash on hand, or save it?
Trump may also be able to access funds from the public offering of Truth Social, his social media platform. Shareholders of Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC) approved a merger with Truth Social. This is a potential $3.5 billion windfall for the former President.
Why this Matters: If Trump posts the bond—and if, and when, the Supreme Court overturns the judgment, Trump will get back all but about 15 percent.
DA Fani Willis in Georgia is pushing to hold the RICO trial in Fulton County before the November election. However, a Georgia judge has sided with lawyers for Donald Trump. He has ordered an immediate hearing to explore whether Willis should be dismissed for perjuring herself under oath.
Overtaken: Border
The border is even worse shape today, if that’s possible. February’s record setting 256k nationwide encounters of illegal aliens includes 114k who were unlawfully paroled into the US. This is almost 100k more than Feb 2021. These illegal aliens are not in removal proceedings, have no obligation to submit an asylum claim, and are immediately eligible for work permits.
On Thursday, a large crowd of about 100 illegal aliens attempted to break down the security fence at the borer in El Paso. Many of these single adults assaulted National Guardsmen and rushed the wall, but they were later processed and released into the interior. It will likely happen again.
Gov. Abbott responded to the invasion:
“The Texas National Guard and Dept. of Public Safety quickly regained control and are redoubling the razor wire barriers. DPS is instructed to arrest every illegal immigrant involved for criminal trespass and destruction of property.”
Where are they ending up? Some of them are finding empty homes and occupying them, right in our neighborhoods.
Overtaken: Homes
Several states and localities have squatters’ rights laws that has property owners worried—and they have every right to be. One Illegal alien outside of Columbus, Ohio, has gone viral on TikTok, telling other illegals how to abuse progressive squatters’ rights laws. The man in this video encourages others to invade homes and take them over as squatters. He says his friends have already gotten seven homes.
In some areas, squatters have more rights than homeowners, and Police will not kick them out. Tennants are given rights to stay put after just 30 days of illegal occupation.
One such situation has proven deadly. New Yorker Nadia Vitels encountered two squatters in her NYC apartment. The male and female squatters killed her and stuffed her into a duffle bag, then took her car.
Overtaken: Car Manufacturing
President Biden is working very hard to completely replace gas powered vehicles with electric vehicles (EVs). His EPA released a new Clean Cars rule that could lead to two-thirds of new cars and passenger trucks being electric in 2032. It’s the strictest federal climate regulation ever issued for passenger cars and trucks.
Keep in mind that only 4 percent of our energy comes from wind and solar, and it takes 45 years of EV battery life to offset the CO2 caused by producing one, according to Dave Walsh. He is an energy consultant and former president of Mitsubishi Power Systems.
Why this Matters: Isn’t it interesting that three Chinese auto firms, powered by Blackrock investment funding, announced in late 2023 that they were spending $5 billion to build EV factories in Mexico? These EV vehicles are headed for the US.
This is the reason Donald Trump told a crowd on Saturday that if he’s not elected, these policies of the Biden Administration will destroy the US car industry to such an extent, it will be a “bloodbath.”
How to Pray: It seems that this is the watershed season and only God can fix our problems. Pray for His mercy. Continue exercising your duties as a citizen to let your lawmakers know what you think about their spending habits. Pray for Donald Trump and that the rule of law will be re-instituted in this great nation.
Lam. 3:22 - It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Dan. 9:9 - To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
Heb. 4:16 - Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, tha twe may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
