It pays to know the right people—even if you have to pay to know them. Just ask the family of the only American hostage released by Hamas. Keep in mind that in the hostage “exchange,” Hamas also took back convicted criminals from Israeli prisons--would-be bombers and murderers. In return, Israel received a few babies and children, moms and grannies who were taken captive during the October 7 massacre.
The release of 4-year-old Abigail Edan—who has dual American/Israeli citizenship--has an expensive backstory. Abigail’s great-aunt, Liz Hirsh Naftali, is a satisfied customer of the Biden family. She paid $1.3 million for Hunter Biden's art, which also netted her an appointment to the US Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad. Naftali has visited the White House 13 times in 18 months, according to visitor logs.
Naftali is influential in California Democratic circles and has been a significant Democratic donor. She forked over $13,414 to the Biden campaign, and $29,700 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee this year alone, according to Business Insider. She was recommended to the AHA post by Nancy Pelosi.
President Biden spoke about Abigail's release in televised remarks Sunday.
"She's free and she's in Israel now," Mr. Biden said, adding that Abigail has "been through a terrible trauma." The child's mother was killed in front of her by Hamas militants before her father was also gunned down when he used his body to shield her. Abigail then ran to neighbors for help, Mr. Biden said.

What about the other captives? We still don’t know how many Americans are missing, perhaps eight or nine. President Biden is taking credit for helping to foster this hostage exchange, while pressuring Israel to continue the ceasefire—perhaps indefinitely.
Speaking with Forked Tongues
A majority of Americans support Israel’s mission to utterly destroy Hamas, and so does Congress. But the Biden administration is speaking out of both sides of their collective mouthpieces. Biden publicly supports Israel, but privately works to appease Hamas. The President apologized to Hamas in a private meeting for not accepting their “official” death toll—even though Hamas has been caught lying repeatedly about such numbers in the past. The Quran permits lying in order to overtake and devour those of other faiths, plus Hamas counts all deaths as civilian deaths.
Biden had cast doubt on the reported death toll—which, at the time, the Gaza Health Ministry said was 6,000 Palestinians, including 2,700 children. His skepticism struck a sour note among some Democrats, such as members of the "squad."
Biden has a fight within his own party, with squad members Omar (MN), Tlaib (MI), and Bush (MO) wanting an end to US aid for Israel. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) accused the Biden administration of enabling "gross human rights violations" in Gaza by sending military aid to Israel.
Their influence may have pushed Biden to rethink his earlier statements. After doubting Hamas on their death toll, Biden met with several Muslim leaders, and offered an apology. “I’m sorry. I’m disappointed in myself,” he reportedly said. “I will do better.”
The split in the progressive/leftist wing has spilled over and can be seen in massive anti-Israel protests. First, there was an illegal takeover at the Capitol, led by Rep. Tlaib. She was later censured by the House by most GOP members and 22 Democrats.
A censure is a statement of strong disapproval, which likely boosted Tlaib’s celebrity status.
There have also been protests on college campuses, at major train stations, and outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington. On Thanksgiving Day, protesters in New York City interrupted the Macy’s parade and halted traffic to the Manhattan Bridge.
One protest turned into an anti-semitic riot. A teacher in NYC was driven into hiding when an anti-semitic riot broke out at the high school where she taught for more than a decade. Four hundred students thundered through the halls of the school waving Palestinian flags and calling for her removal. Police were called and had her safely isolated. Her crime is two-fold: she is Jewish, and she shared her pro-Israel stance on social media, “I stand with Israel.”
Aid with a Double Edge
Besides exchanging prisoners, the ceasefire allows the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, namely, fuel, water, food, and other supplies. It will continue for the next ten days while Israel and Hamas continue to exchange hostages.
As the days go by, the White House is increasing their demands on Israel:
Israel must keep the aid to Gaza flowing
Israel is told where they can and cannot attack
Israel must preserve civilian lives
The White House will dictate who rules Gaza after the fighting ends
The White House has said that the Palestinian Authority, which is controlled by Fatah—another terror organization—must rule Gaza. The Wall Street Journal reported that Fatah terrorists posted videos of its members participating in the October 7 massacre. "Fatah terrorists killed, tortured and kidnapped Israelis, and took videos of their actions.”
Much of this murderous ideology has been adopted from Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and militant group. Their war tactic is to hit civilian targets and not military installations. Other sponsors are Qatar and Turkey—which is also a NATO member and supposed US ally—plus Malaysia, Algeria, Sudan, and Iran.
Here’s another example of Biden double-speak. The administration approved a sanctions waiver that allows Iran to access at least $10 billion in previously frozen funds held in Iraq. Iran provides up to $100 million annually to Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups, according to the US State Department.
It makes one wonder if somehow the Bidens and other friends in high places are getting a bit of cash on the side from Iran’s mullahs.
US Aid a Must
Defeating Hamas is said to be a nearly impossible task, requiring long-term tunnel warfare, hitting the terrorists’ 300 miles of subterranean weapons caches, workshops and headquarters. On Tuesday, snipers from Hamas hit several Israeli soldiers, clearly violating the terms of the ceasefire. The injuries were not life-threatening.
Israel is in a tough spot. Inaction allows Hamas to rebuild and reorganize with the aid of Hamas fighters who have been released from Israel’s prisons—on hand to continue their mission to wipe Israel off the map. "From the river to the sea…” is the terrorists’ goal.
Retired IDF Maj. General Yitzhak Brick said in a recent interview, “All of our missiles, the ammunition, the precision-guided bombs, all the airplanes and bombs, it’s all from the U.S. The minute they turn off the tap, you can’t keep fighting. You have no capability. … Everyone understands that we can’t fight this war without the United States. Period.”
Biden has asked for $14 billion in military supplies, but Congress must approve the spending. With its outrageous appetite for spending money--and printing more when necessary—Congress is likely to vote Israel the aid it needs.
Above: Released Tuesday
Meantime, more than 150 people are still imprisoned by Hamas. Since today’s fifth release of captives, we have learned that:
The hostages were beaten with sticks after the abduction
Held underground
No showers for the duration of captivity
Received little food
Older hostages were kept alive by other hostages caring for them
Many have required hospitalization upon their release
Few details have been shared, for fear of retribution. Most of the people freed have at least one relative still in captivity.
Why this Matters: Congress is voting on aid to Ukraine as well as aid for Israel, while our deficit hits new heights every single day. It will get worse unless the spending stops. However, the administration is trying to convince Americans that things are so much better since Biden took office. They really think people will be swayed by propaganda—despite the fact that every trip to the gas station and the grocery store proves just the opposite.
Biden said recently, “As a share of earnings this Thanksgiving, dinner was the 4th cheapest ever on record. I want y'all to know that."
How to Pray: Thank God for the hostages’ freedom! Pray that Israel will turn to Jesus as Savior and Lord. As the Bible proves over and over, God is all the help that Israel needs. Pray for our Congress to control the spending and reduce our debt. May God forgive us for our passivity in allowing such sin to rein in Washington DC, our states, and cities. Pray for a change in 2024.
Hosea 13:9 - O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.
Amen! God is our only hope. He’s such a wonderful Friend and Savior!
