Chooses VP Running Mate--at Least for Now

Donald Trump welcomed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to the race with two words: THANK YOU. Kamala Harris announced her choice of Walz as VP running mate Tuesday morning. He is a socialist who has a resume that makes him perhaps the most anti-liberty person in Harris’s circle of potential candidates, and one who weakens her campaign.

All weekend, the media was buzzing around a different name, Josh Shapiro, the Governor of Pennsylvania. Some believe Shapiro’s Jewish ethnicity would have caused a breach with the pro-Palestine wing of the party, especially “the squad.” Others report that Shapiro turned Harris down because he didn’t have a good feeling after meeting with her on Sunday. Rumors are that at least 12 different people declined the VP offer, calling it “career suicide.”

Her Choice—for Now

For now, Harris is dancing with Walz. He is 60 years old and a favorite of “the squad,” with Rep. Ilhan Omar, AOC, and the others cheering his candidacy. Walz caters to illegals and refugees. He signed a law allowing illegals to get drivers licenses and automatically register to vote—although if they did vote, it would be a felony.

• He’s a big Democrat spender. Walz raised taxes in the state by $10 billion and squandered a $19 billion budget surplus.

• Walz is a darling of China. His ties to foreign countries cost him a security clearance in 2021 for a job in the Biden administration. He spent every summer in China from 1996 until at least 2003, after receiving a special work visa from the Communist government. He and his wife Gwen spent their honeymoon in China.

• Tim Walz is an ELCA Lutheran, one of the largest Christian denominations in the US, with more than 3.8 million members. They are LGBTQ-affirming, and drag queens are welcome to read to children at ELCA churches.

• Walz calls himself a hunter and a gun owner, who wants gun restrictions. While passing himself off as a sweet old guy from the Midwest, he promotes radical ideology and says MAGA Americans are “weird.”

Anti-Child Legislation

Last year Tim Walz signed an executive order that made Minnesota a sanctuary state for child gender abuse, signing a bill to allow minors to obtain mutilation surgeries. Children can be taken from parents who disagree, and the state offers to shelter minors who travel across state lines to get trans surgeries without their parent's consent. Other stances:

• Abortion up to the moment of birth.

• Allowing children to die after birth. At least five babies were born alive after botched abortions in Minnesota and left to die. Two of these struggling babies were given “comfort care” only, in violation of state law. Walz repealed that law and replaced it with abortion-on-demand.

• Boys allowed in girls’ sports and spaces.

• Mandating feminine products in boys’ restrooms, earning him the nickname, “Tampon Tim.”

Stolen Valor

Tim Walz is said to be the highest ranking enlisted soldier ever to serve in Congress. He was a Command Sergeant Major in the Minnesota National Guard. His military career ended when he was demoted from that rank because he deserted his men before they were deployed to Iraq. He never finished the prerequisite courses required for his conditional promotion. The US Army revised his service records to reflect that fact.

He approved the altering of the Minnesota flag, with the new design adopted in May, 2024. The new flag was introduced in a video (below, left). Minnesota is home to 57,000 Somalis. The new flag resembles that of Puntland, Somalia, birthplace of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

DUI Arrest

Walz was arrested in 1995 in Dawes County, Nebraska, for driving 96 mph in a 55-mph zone. He was also drunk, with a blood alcohol level of 0.128, but has denied it publicly. Walz's then-congressional campaign manager claimed he had a deafness problem and did not understand the officer. The deafness problem was surgically repaired, according to that staffer. The initial charge was driving under the influence and speeding, but it was reduced under a plea deal to a lone count of reckless driving.

Handling Covid

Walz was one of the Democrat governors who put sick covid nursing home patients back in those homes after they were released from the hospital. He closed down churches and kept them closed, while tattoo parlors and liquor stores were open.

BLM Burning

In the summer of 2020, Governor Tim Walz allowed the city of Minneapolis to burn. He was in favor of the riots and kept law enforcement from stopping it. His wife Gwen Walz stated that she left her windows open so she could smell the burning tires.

Their daughter coordinated with rioters to let them know that the National Guard would not be activated one night and it would be safe to do their worst. That fits right in with the party line. Senator Kamala Harris promoted a fund to provide bail money for the rioters. The website is still up.

Why this Matters: JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, was asked if he would debate Tim Walz. Vance answered, that depends upon whether Tim receives the party’s nomination during their convention, or Harris pulls a “switcheroo.” He told reporters he had called and left a message congratulating Governor Walz, then added:

“Would it shock me if the Democrats pulled another switcheroo? No it wouldn’t,” Vance said, referring to the quick change of presidential candidates.

President Trump suggested in a post that Joe Biden regretted his decision to drop out. Others believe Harris botched the VP pick by dumping Shapiro in favor of Walz. The campaign appears confused, misdirected, and struggles to maintain a strong image. Keep in mind that Harris has been the “nominee” for 16 days but hasn’t given an official interview. She appears to be hiding.

How to Pray: That the “house” of the Democrats falls apart in confusion, and everything that is not of God breaks under the weight of its own evil. Pray for safety for all elected officials and that God will give us freedom from oppressive leaders.
