Donald Trump is leading the pack of Republican contenders for the 2024 presidential campaign and it’s not even close. He’s also besting Joe Biden among likely voters 50 percent to 49 percent according to a CBS/Ipsos poll. About one third of Americans said they approve of Biden's handling of the economy, compared with 59 percent who disapprove.
Unless things change drastically, Donald Trump will be the GOP nominee, and possibly win the presidency. Will his latest comments about transgenderism and abortion change that? What about his resounding support for homosexuality?
The former president was interviewed Sunday on Meet the Press and asked about signing a federal abortion ban at 15 weeks. "I think people should have exceptions," Trump told new NBC moderator Kristen Welker. "I think if it’s rape or incest or the life of the mother, I think you have to have exceptions. It’s very important.”
He said he would negotiate with both sides on the issue and come up with a number that’s going to make them happy. He also said that DeSantis’s pledge to sign a 5- or 6-week ban was a “terrible mistake.”
Trump added that many candidates are calling for abortion bans without exceptions, but in "other than certain parts of the country, you can’t — you’re not going to win on this issue. But you will win on this issue when you come up with the right number of weeks.”
Is this an endorsement of abortion? Why didn’t he just leave the issue with the states?
What is a Man?
Megyn Kelly recently interviewed the former president and asked him, “Can a man become a woman?
Trump laughed and said that part of the difference between men and women is seen in the issue of birth. “Can a man give birth? No,” he answered.
Trump made a more definitive statement at a women’s gathering, saying “In the beginning God created two genders, male and female, is that alright to say?”
Lots of Christians on Twitter were outraged by his response to Megyn Kelly. They want more substance, and ask what does Trump really believe about transgenderism?
Support for Homosexuality
Last December, Trump hosted a gay and lesbian gala at Mar-a-Lago. It was attended by so-called Christians such as Kari Lake, former AZ gubernatorial candidate, and said to be a celebration of gay rights and the historic same-sex marriage law signed by President Joe Biden days earlier. The Respect for Marriage Act was passed with support of 39 House Republicans and 12 GOP senators.
Is Trump a sell-out—or is he following the lead set by many pastors today?
Where are the Pastors?
Before we go blaming a politician for his lack of consistency and strength on these polarizing issues, maybe we should look at the so-called Christian church to find the root of the problem.
Today we have “evangelical” pastors endorsing all manner of evil.
Pastor Andy Stanley (son of Charles Stanley) endorses homosexuality and says we should decouple the entire Bible except for the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Old Testament? Toss it out. Letters of Paul to the churches? Irrelevant. Nothing matters, according to Pastor Stanley, except the cross.
Stanley, who leads Northpoint mega church outside of Atlanta, contends that churches must adapt and learn how to include gays. He goes even farther to make heroes out of homosexuals, saying, “The men and women I know who are gay, their faith and their confidence in God dwarfs mine. And so not only is there room, there's plenty of room” for them in the church.
And he’s not alone. According to Pew Research, just 71 percent of white evangelical Protestants say same-sex marriage is bad for society.
Those who say same-sex marriage is good:
62 percent of white non-evangelical Protestants
66 percent of Catholics
82 percent of religiously unaffiliated adults
49 percent of black protestants
The evangelical world is also very double-minded about the essentials of the faith, even though the Bible warns vehemently about sharing your home—or the stage—with false teachers. 2 John 1:7.
For example, consider Donald Trump’s special advisor Pastor Paula White. In 2021, White was a keynote speaker at the second virtual Prayer Rally for Peace on the Korean Peninsula hosted by the Unification Church, which is a cult. She was joined by former Vice President Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Rev. Jonathan Falwell, son of Rev. Jerry Falwell.
Speakers praised the work of “Mother Moon,” wife of Sun Myung Moon and head of the Unification Church. The Moons claim that Jesus redeemed mankind spiritually but not physically—that task was left to the "True Parents," Moon and his wife, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
Sadly, Trump also addressed the prayer rally. And yet, how can we expect solid thinking from non-churched people like Trump who haven’t studied the Bible, when even pastors are behaving like this?
How to Pray: Judgment begins in the house of the Lord, in the church. Instead of condemning Donald Trump, let’s begin praying for him to seek God’s wisdom instead of the wisdom of man. He has many troubles to overcome and he needs good counsel. Pray for him to get it! Pray that false teachers will be taken out. Pray for Jesus’ “little flock” to wake up and recognize when they are in danger of the wolves. Pray for good teachers and pastors that they may remain faithful.
Jeremiah 23:1 - “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!” declares the LORD.
2 Peter 2:1 - But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Texas DA Paxton Exonerated!
Ken Paxton was exonerated fully after several attorneys from his own office brought impeachment proceedings against him. He was accused of misusing the powers of his office, but his defense team successfully argued that the case was full of holes, circumstantial evidence, and misdirection.
Paxton is the District Attorney of Texas, a hero to many, who has sued the Biden Administration and others for violating our rights and the Constitution. In May, Paxton sued Big Pharma for misleading the country on gain-of-function research and lying about the effectiveness of their vaccines—making himself an enemy of very powerful people.

In his press release following his acquittal, Paxton said that the weaponization of the impeachment process to settle political differences is not only wrong, it is immoral and corrupt. To the Biden Administration he wrote:
“Buckle up because your lawless policies will not go unchallenged. We will not allow you to shred the Constitution and infringe on the rights of Texans. You will be held accountable.”
Praise God for rescuing Ken Paxton and for his determination to continue the fight!
Battling for the Truth
Special prosecutor Jack Smith—the man who indicted Trump and others for 91 crimes—is seeking a gag order to keep Trump from even mentioning the case, the trial, the witnesses, or the facts. He is doing this under the guise of “preventing the jury pool from being tainted.” Smith absurdly claims that D.C. residents read Trump's posts on Truth Social.
Following the announcement of a formal impeachment inquiry by the House into the misdeeds of President Biden, his White House attorney sent a letter to the media telling them to "ramp up [their] scrutiny" of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies."
From legal analyst Jonathan Turley:
The letter has an uncomfortable feeling of marching orders to the media. It is also notable in the role of White House Counsel's office. It removes any pretense of separation between the Biden personal legal team and the White House Counsel’s office.
Keep our leaders in prayer always—especially as House Republicans examine the facts. Pray for Joe Biden and all who lead this country, that it might go well with us.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 - I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
God’s command is to love one another; that means love the sinner but not the r sin.
Paxton is ATTORNEY GENERAL (AG) of Texas, not District Attorney (D.A.). An unintentional error, I presume!
